Officer Involved Shooting

Riverside, Ca-  At approximately 8:38 P.M., two officers from the Riverside Police Department were involved in a shooting at Dwight and Loma Vista.  The officers were in the process of contacting two subjects when one subject attacked one of the officers.   The suspect was able to grab the officer’s flashlight that he then used as a weapon, striking one of the officers on the head.  The officer shot the suspect armed with the flashlight, striking him once in the left shoulder.  The suspect, Riverside resident Lucio Salazar Santoyo, 23 years old, was treated for his injuries at Riverside Community Hospital and booked into Riverside County Jail for:

Penal Code Violation 245 (C)  Assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer
Penal Code Violation 69 Felony resisting arrest
Penal Code Violation 148.9 False Information to a peace officer                       

Both officers were treated for their injuries and released from Riverside Community Hospital.
