A police officer or detective assigned to several public
schools.
They investigate crimes occurring on campus, interview suspects
and witnesses, and file the case with the District Attorney’s
Office.
The main objective is to be a liaison between the Alvord and
Riverside Unified School Districts. The primary responsibility of
the School Resource Officer is to provide a police resource to the
assigned public schools.
Anti-gang and anti-drug awareness education is also presented
by the School Resource Officers in keeping with the department’s
Community Oriented Policing philosophy.
